It has been nearly six months since the pandemic began, yet we are still in a transition period.
Every day we are finding answers to unanswerable questions like When will be back to normal again? When will this end? With all this chaos occurring daily, everything can seem overwhelming and inescapable, making it physically and mentally exhausting. To forget, we often feel like we have to fill our days with work.
Unfortunately, distracting ourselves with work won't fix anything. Instead, it adds more weight on our shoulders.
Here, I created four ways that can help brighten up your day and relieve you of your fear and anxiousness.
1. Get Good Quality Sleep
Have you ever slept for 7 to 9 hours of sleep and woke up tired? I have! There were days where I got out of bed asking myself, Why do I feel so tired if I slept for 8 hours last night?
When this happened to me, I realized that getting good quality sleep is better than just counting the number of hours needed to be well-rested.
By having a good night's sleep, you will be less likely to be anxious or even rattled by the amount of work you have for that day. More importantly, you will be more productive because you took the time to recharge the energy you drained the day before.
If you feel tired, it is always a good idea to take a nap. Give yourself time to relax. Your body and mind will thank you later.
2. Take Phone or Computer Breaks
When you are staring at a glaring screen all day, you can experience fatigue, stress, and headaches. It can even lead to eyestrain.
With that said, even if you are busy, try and allot a time where you don't use your phone or computer. Taking breaks from technology allows you to reflect, think more clearly, and even energize your mind after working for hours.
3. Incorporate One Hobby Into Your Daily Schedule
I found that when I do one hobby every day, I look forward to it. Including a hobby into your daily routine can be a source of therapy, allows you to release stress and to focus on something other than work.
By doing something you love can put you in a good mood and make your day a little bit better no matter how busy you are.
4. Spend Time with Family and Friends
Despite being isolated from everyone, it is important to remember we are not alone.
Thanks to technology, we can connect with the people we care about even if they are thousands of miles away from us.
By spending time with them, it can help boost our self-esteem, feel better. It reminds us that we are not alone in the experiences we are facing, that it is okay to ask for help and talk to somebody. It can relieve our stress, fears, or even worries in life, as well as strengthen the relationship you have.
